I am an active member of both PPA (Professional Photographers of America, and GPPA (Georgia Professional Photographers Association). Both organizations sponsor image competitions that provide professional level photographers an opportunity to focus intently on their craft. I entered my first competition in 2019, and hope to continue, even as I "wind down" my professional activities. All photos in this gallery have been awarded merits in either PPA or GPPA competitions. There is no financial incentive involved, only recognition and awards. So why spend your valuable time on competitions? It's the same as any other competition. For serious photographers, competition is a great opportunity to push yourself and raise your skill set and photography to the next level. If that is your goal, it's what you do.
