Welcome to my Group of Galleries for the Madison Studio Dance Education!
From about 1998 (or 1997?) when my daughter, Jackie, started as a Level 1 until June 2010, I had either one or two daughters enrolled at the Madison Studio. From early on, Anne and I became increasingly involved in the Studio as Jackie took us to New York for Performance Awards for several years, and then joined the Madison Studio Ensembles. With all the extra rehearsals and performances, we spent a good deal of time down at the “old” studio at Rivoli and Forsyth, then at the “expanded” old studio, and then at the newest "old" studio on Burrus Road. My younger daughter Alice also danced for several years, from pre-K through Pearls and with the Junior Ensemble, until pursuing other interests after the 2009-2010 year, the same year that Jackie graduated. We even had Reeves in Tumbling for a couple of years. (Except he called it “Flipping” class because, he thinks tumbling is what you do when you trip and fall down!)
Over the years I became a big fan of the Studio, the dancers, and the dance arts in general. It was sometime in 2004 when Jane asked if I would do some promotional photos for an upcoming show. Of course I was delighted, and this initial engagement, led to more shoots, and gradually expanded to include annual Ensemble headshots performance photos and videos, recital class photos, and more. Dance, as an art form, has been an inspiration for me, just as the dancers themselves inspire me to capture the beauty that is right there in front of me.
